Kose @ Compass Point

And so, I went all the way to Compass Point for Kose’s event on Saturday.

The seats were already filled up by the time I reached the place T.T The BA was quite nice and offered me a space for Sunday’s event. But Compass Point is sooo farrrr (for me), so although I signed up for the event on Sunday, I left my number behind and asked them to ring me up if there’s any last minute back outs. (Shermz great idea! ^^)

We went for lunch (ZOMG! Burger Kings’s Mushy Swiss Chicky is very nice!!) and shopped around. Kiasu me kept on holding on to my phone, hoping that they will give me a call and they did! :D

I joined the Great Skin Challenge event which I think I am the youngest there. >.<

The product that they are promoting for the event was the Mask White (a black color mask). From what I have noticed, Kose Sekkisei line does not have an exfoliator. And so, the Mask White works as an exfoliator which is to be used twice a week. The mask is a peel off mask and it is said to help in removing the dead skin cells and impurities, namely, blackheads, whiteheads. And you skin will glow after using the mask, ie, whitening/brightening effects.

I was really tempted to try this mask out after hearing raves from my friends but I’ve still got the St. Clare MP3 Sebum Treatment Set to be completed. Thus, I am having second thoughts on buying Mask White on that day since Kose always has roadshows. But the $35 deal for a Mask White + 5 Masks was really worth it!

For the event, the staff did a live demonstration on skin preparation before using the mask by using Kose Clear Lotion to remove any remaining dirt on the skin before applying the mask. I have never heard of the Clear Lotion :x I always thought Kose only carries one lotion –the Sekkisei Lotion which is highly raved.

Kose Clear Lotion:
The texture is less runny as compared to Sekkisei Lotion. To me, Sekkisei Lotion has viscosity of a regular toner and so the Clear Lotion has viscosity in between toner and emulsion. I don’t really have much idea what is the difference between the two lotions, perhaps for different skin types?
Next, we were asked to apply the Mask White.

Kose Mask White:
Apply all over the face, avoiding hairlines and eye area. The application was really easy and we need to apply a reasonable layer so that it can be removed as an entire piece when dried. A reasonable thick layer is when you cant see you skin. The mask dried in around 20 minutes and everyone was able to peel it off in one piece. I don’t know isit because I exfoliated my face two days back and thus I do not see much ‘heads’ being removed. Slight brightening effect was observed thou. Lucky I had the chance to try the mask else I would have bought a tube back.

I think that St Clare MP3 does a better job in removal of my ‘heads’ and the brightening effects can be achieved through serums and moisturisers.

After deep cleansing with the Mask White, we were all given a Mask Pill soaked in the Sekkisei Lotion.
ZOMG! The alcohol smell was super strong and my mask pill was left in the lotion for more than 20 min and it was kind of dry when I placed it on my face. Alcohol evaporates really fast so actually in my opinion; this kind of masking doesn’t really help.

Kose products contain alcohol. There are good and bad alcohols around. They are needed to help in transferring the other chemicals in the products to your skin and also some alcohols can help to close up your pores. So, not all alcohols are bad alcohols. However, do use them moderately.

My mum had used Kose before –dont really know why she stopped using. And so, I thought it is better to use it in my late 20s or 30s. Haha. But hack! I was really tempted to try it and so my first Kose product was the Sekkisei Lotion which was given to me by Shermz (here). Haha he knew I was eyeing it for the longest time and bought the 100ml size for me to try. ^^

My mum saw it and said ‘Hey I used that before.’ and then I was like ‘Yah, it smells familiar. But I never see any whitening leh. More of brightening’. She, ‘Yah lor, brightening only.’

So maybe this is one of the reasons why she switched to SKII which she said it really works!
A month after using the Sekkisei lotion, I chanced upon a sales post and managed to get hold of the Kose Sekkisei Emulsion. It was a huge bottle (140ml) and it will take forever to finish it T.T Used around 70ml in 6 months. Another half a year to go… Yup, obvious brightening effects from the emulsion too. Perhaps there are whitening effects too but I am also using whitening serums at the same time. Haha.

Oh, I didnt win the Great Skin Challenge T.T cos they were looking for the ‘dirtiest’ mask :/ eww~
